Hello hello, I’m Courtney Bateson, HMG’s new Marketing Coordinator. I am so thrilled that my journey has brought me here, and I can’t wait to dive into this role to give it my all.
Born and raised in the north of England, I’m a lover of all things creative. Traveling, photography and food are my main points of interest and I usually find a way to combine the three in my spare time. I studied Marketing Management at University in Manchester and it was here where I had the opportunity to study abroad. Enticed by the scorching hot summers and the endless supply of BBQ that Texas had to offer, I chose to study at Texas Tech University. Next thing I knew, I was in the high plains of Lubbock, adapting to a new academic system and integrating into a completely different culture. I screamed with excitement when I saw a tumbleweed rolling down the street for the first time – embarrassing, I know.
After graduating, I interned and worked at several different businesses in Manchester to gain a better understanding of how marketing actually worked in the real world. I familiarized myself with the ins and outs of how an agency operates, learned how to use all the essential programs and was responsible for planning, developing and implementing effective marketing communication campaigns for a wide array of different clients. I have loved figuring out the needs of an audience while creating engaging, relevant content to attract their attention, particularly on social media.
I missed Texas so much after moving back to Manchester that, to cut a long story short, I ended up back in the Lone Star State (but this time, for good). I was looking for an agency whose values aligned with my own and happened to stumble across HMG Creative. After I first visited the office, I spotted their logo sticker on a lamppost outside Jo’s Coffee and was retargeted by their web ads later that day. I was very impressed by their ability to keep catching my attention both online and offline, and I instantly knew this was the right place for me. I felt I had something to bring to the table but also knew that I could learn so much from the team; especially in areas such as brand strategy, search engine marketing and web development. Four days after our first meeting, I was officially a member of HMG Creative!
I was welcomed to HMG with a lovely little starter pack and spent my first week familiarizing myself with their specific marketing services as well as getting to know the team. We enjoyed lunch at Pinthouse pizza, binged on heart-shaped candy for Valentine’s Day and rounded off the week with a game of ping pong. I am so thrilled to be here and look forward to growing alongside HMG and seeing where the future will take us.
